Where Craft Beer Meets Community

Derive Brewing Company began in 2016 as a nomadic brewery founded by Luke Sherrill, Peter Steffes, and Mike Coates. In 2020, Derive opened its Clintonville taproom and kitchen on North High Street.

Today, Derive is an award-winning brewery, taproom, and kitchen known for its rotating selection of craft beer, including hazy IPAs, saisons, and other creative styles. Pair the beer with elevated pub fare—including their well-known smash burger—and you have a neighborhood spot designed for good food, good beer, and good company.

But what we appreciate most about Derive is the philosophy behind it. Their approach combines craftsmanship with collaboration and a relaxed, come-as-you-are atmosphere where, as Derive puts it, they “don’t know a stranger.”
